Letter to the Parents by École Socrates-Démosthène Gen. Director Chris Adamopoulos
Dear parents,
We wish you a happy 2018-2019 school year! We hope that your summer vacations met your expectations. Here, at École Socrates-Démosthène, we are busy putting the finishing touch. We have planned a beautiful school year in which your child’s preschool, kindergarten, primary and secondary education is our utmost priority.
Our strategic plan developed for the years 2017 to 2022, with medium and long-term goals, will gradually come into effect during this year. Our ultimate goal remains a top-level curriculum for our students, your children, while operating as efficiently as possible.
At École Socrates-Démosthène, our programs are constantly being improved and updated. We invest time and research into obtaining new materials, incorporating new technologies and improving our teaching methods. The optimization of our technological infrastructure (computers and Internet in every classroom), and teacher training in technology remains a major concern. As a result, we continue to implement our Technology Master Plan that we have developed to achieve our goals in this area.
We have consolidated our supplementary services. Resource teachers (orthopédagogues) and remedial courses will be available at all our campuses. Special learning assistance will be offered to students who need it.
Our Service éducatif parascolaire (SÉP), a daycare program, is highly valued by families. It is an extension of the educational program, before or after classes, depending on the campus, and during the pedagogical days, with the same quality in care, in a safe, educational and recreational environment for students. Please refer to the SÉP document in this envelope.
The École Socrates-Démosthène continues its ecological involvement. Each campus will send most of its communications via email, saving on paper. We ask that you give us your email address for this purpose.

We are proud to announce that from this school year 2018-2019, our school will establish the Portail (a communication system) to better serve you. More information will follow.
After the remarkable success of our sixth trip to Greece last June, the ultimate Greek educational experience will be offered again to this year’s graduating class. You will receive by email all the details this fall. We hope that the 2019 version of this adventure will enter the history of school trips.
We are still very involved in the project of the Laval Hellenic Community Complex (a grouping of all our Laval establishments in a central location). In addition, every effort will be made to make our first high school a great success this year and for future generations.
On behalf of the administration of École Socrates-Démosthène, teachers, support staff, and general administration staff, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our students and to you, their parents to École Socrates-Démosthène. We cannot wait to see the students again!
